How to play culture tags game?
There are multiple ways to play this game.
A. For teams:
- Split the players into teams. You can make as many as teams with as many as number of players. I would recommend minimum of 4 players in each team for better experience.
- Select a person in your team to be a describer. You can change describer in every round.
- Start the timer. The describer gets stack of cards from box and immediately-
- Speaks the category and show his team the culture tag.
- Team has only 90 seconds to answer the card. Give hints but without saying any of the word used in the phrase.
- If card is answered correctly, put it down and continue flipping.
- Pass on the card which team is unable to guess and put them in a separate pile.
- When the timer runs out, it’s next team turn to play.
- Put the remaining cards back in the box.
- Leave passed cards pile on the table.
- Stack your correctly guessed cards separately and count them.
- Add one point for correctly guessed cards.
- Deduct one point for passed cards.
- Note down the points on blank DIY card.
- It’s time for next team to play.
- Describer from this team will decide to start with passed cards placed on the table or to get new stack of cards from the box.
- If describer decides to play with the new cards from the box then continue playing as mentioned in Point 3.
- If describer is ready to play with passed cards then the process is same as discussed in point 3 but here the score will be different.
- If describer gets through all of the passed cards before timer runs out, he can grab new cards from the box and continue playing.
- When timer runs out, add 2 points for each passed card correctly guessed.
- Deduct one point for each card passed (even if it was passed earlier).
- Process of playing and scoring remains same for next remaining teams.
- Once all players have decided that they had played enough, you can stop the game. Team with maximum number of points will win.
B. One on One
The beauty of this game is that you can play it with a big team or at a table with your friend. The procedure to play this game with two players is as follows:
- For one-on-one play setup and rules remain same as it is for teams.
- If you are a moderator, your friend will guess the culture tag. Maximum time limit is 90 seconds. If guessed correctly, hand over the tag to him.
- At the end the person with maximum number of cards will win the game.
C. For one team
You can even play this game when there is only one team. The method is:
- Select describer from your team. When timer starts, describer grabs a card from the box and announces the category and shows the culture tag.
- Anyone in the team can answer the phrase. Describer must hand over the card to that player.
- When timer runs out, it’s another player turn to be describer. Continue playing as discussed in above steps.
- Once everyone got a chance to be act as a describer, the game ends and the player with maximum cards will win the game.
